Brentford hope to hijack Arsenal’s move for Shakhtar Donetsk’s Mykhaylo Mudryk but would have to smash the club’s transfer record to sign the £25m-rated Ukrainian forward, say the Mirror.

Newcastle have entered the race to sign Leicester City’s Belgium midfielder Youri Tielemans with just a few hours left of the window.

Southampton are ready to up their offer for Netherlands winger Cody Gakpo after PSV Eindhoven rejected an initial £21.4m bid, claims the Telegraph.

Fenerbahce have entered the race to sign Paris St-Germain forward Mauro Icardi with the Argentina striker already garnering interest from fellow Turkish side Galatasaray, say L’Equipe.

Paris St-Germain’s Senegal defender Abdou Diallo who has been linked with a move to Aston Villa, will fly to Germany on Thursday for a medical before a proposed switch to RB Leipzig, says Fabrizio Romano.

Nice forward Kasper Dolberg is in Spain to complete a loan move to Sevilla with the deal expected to go through before the deadline, says AS.

Barcelona defender Sergino Dest has been filmed leaving the Catalan city with a move to Milan likely to be completed later.

From the horse’s mouth

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has insisted that Cristiano Ronaldo is going nowhere despite strong rumours that the Portugal international will leave before the deadline later tonight.

“From the start, we said we planned with him,” said Ten Hag. “We’re happy with him, he’s happy to be here and we want to make the season a success together.”
