Trabzonspor already want rid of ex-Rangers star John Lundstram

John Lundstram left Rangers this summer after months of negotiation over a new contract failed to reach fruition, and the midfielder was forced to sign a contract in Turkey with Trabzonspor, alongside fellow Rangers exitee Borna Barisic.

And like Barisic, like Kemar Roofe, like Ryan Jack, Ryan Kent, Joe Aribo and Nathan Patterson just a few, Lundstram has found his post-Rangers career to be a bit of a disaster among the comments his club boss has made about him.

In short, they already want shot of Lundstram, with Senol Gunes, the Trabzon Technical Director confirming they will attempt to offload him as soon as they can:

“I cannot understand the Lundstram transfer. We have several players with the same characteristics. Lundstram is a very heavy and cumbersome football player. There is nothing we can do at the moment, but if there is an opportunity to send him to another team, it would be good for both Lundstram and us.”

Well that went well.

While some Rangers exits have gone well, such as Glen Kamara to Rennes by way of Leeds, and Calvin Bassey to Fulham by way of Ajax, the majority have not, and have seen Rangers’ high profile departures flop miserably at their next clubs.

Lundstram’s decision to go to Turkey was a strange one, as strange as Ryan Kent’s, and seeing what happened to his fellow countryman we can only assume Lundstram went purely for money.

Ditto Croat Barisic, who has started only 3 matches in Turkey of a possible 8.

The grass definitely isn’t greener for many who leave Govan, and Lundstram definitely didn’t want to go. He made that clear.

Unfortunately his cult popularity with fans was rather ruined in the final 3-4 months of his time at Ibrox, with ‘that’ Old Firm especially toxic, then highlighting it as one of his best bits in his social media farewell.

Now he’s finding it going a bit wrong in Turkey as well.
