In a surprising twist, Real Madrid assistant coach Davide Ancelotti is reportedly close to landing the manager’s job at Scottish giants Rangers.

What makes this story even more intriguing is the possibility that Luka Modric might follow him to Glasgow once his Real Madrid contract ends, reports Mundo Deportivo.

Davide Ancelotti has worked under his father, Carlo Ancelotti, for years at Bayern Munich, Napoli, Everton, and most recently, Real Madrid.

But now, he is ready to step out of his father’s shadow and lead a team on his own. Reports suggest he decided not to follow Carlo to the Brazilian national team and is instead focused on building his own managerial career.

Talks advancing with Rangers

Negotiations between Davide Ancelotti and Rangers are progressing well. The two parties have met several times, with the most recent meeting taking place in London last week.

Talks reportedly centred around the club’s vision, transfer plans, and long-term goals. Though nothing has been signed yet, sources say an agreement is close and could be finalised within days.

Davide is waiting for the final green light from Rangers’ top brass, but all signs point to a deal being completed soon.

Modric could be the big surprise

Adding to the buzz, Modric could become Davide’s first major signing if the deal goes through.

According to reports, the Croatian legend is open to the idea of moving to Scotland once his contract with Real Madrid ends after the Club World Cup.

Modric, who turns 40 in September, is said to prefer staying in Europe rather than moving to Saudi Arabia or the MLS.

His goal is to stay in top shape ahead of the 2026 World Cup in the United States. A move to Rangers under a familiar face like Davide Ancelotti could help him stay competitive at the highest level.
