Tottenham’s Alejo Veliz reveals what Erik Lamela did after he joined Sevilla on loan | OneFootball

Tottenham Hotspur striker Alejo Veliz completed a loan move to La Liga side Sevilla last month and he was welcomed to Spain by no other than Erik Lamela.

The young Argentine has only joined the Spanish club until the end of the campaign in search of more regular minutes.

But it seems he has already been given a warm welcome by the former Tottenham midfielder upon his arrival in the country.

Lamela welcomes Veliz to Sevilla

It had been a difficult spell in England for the young striker who only made the move to north London in the summer.

Minutes were extremely hard to come by in a Spurs shirt for the youngster and he even suffered an injury in one of the brief appearances off the bench he made.

As a result, Ange Postecoglou’s side made the decision to send him out on loan for the remainder of the campaign.

And it looks like they may have picked the perfect destination for him with a former Spurs player and compatriot waiting to welcome him to Spain.

Speaking about how he was able to quickly settle in to another new country, Veliz said: “Luckily I had a very quick adaptation with the boys, especially with the Argentines. I am feeling very comfortable and very happy with this step. With Lamela we have already established a very nice bond, he invited me to his house and we had a great chat. I’m very happy with everything.”

Veliz’s future at Tottenham

Given it has only been a matter of months since he made the big move to England, it would be harsh to judge Veliz on the limited minutes we have seen from him thus far.

However, he has struggled to make much of an impression on Postecoglou since he arrived.

Which means, the likes of this loan move to Sevilla could be crucial for his future in N17 if he is able to develop himself as a player.

We have seen what loan moves have done for the likes of Harry Kane in the past, and although it would be wishful thinking to suggest he could follow in his footsteps, the time in Spain may do him good.

With this in mind, it is great to hear how our former player, Lamela, has taken the youngster under his wing since he touched down in Spain.

The prospect of leaving Spurs and settling into another new country could be daunting for a young player, but it seems as if Lamela is doing what he can to make sure the transition is as smooth as possible.
