In a recent report, UOL mentioned that Tottenham Hotspur are set to rival Barcelona for Monaco full-back Vanderson. It has been stated that Spurs are showing interest in bringing the Brazilian defender to North London in this summer transfer window.

Vanderson’s Decent Run Of Form In Ligue 1

Vanderson had an impressive campaign at the French club as he produced a run of eye-catching performances on the right side of their defence. The 23-year-old found the back of the net twice and secured five assists in 41 matches for Monaco last season across various competitions.

The Brazilian talent performed his defensive duties well and deserves credit for making 76 tackles, 43 blocks and 39 interceptions in Ligue 1 in the previous campaign. He was even accurate when distributing possession from the back based on his pass completion rate of 77.7% in league football (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the French club will expire in the summer of 2028. Therefore, it would be difficult for Spurs to get a deal done for him on the cheap.

Should Tottenham Hotspur Boss Thomas Frank Go For Vanderson?

Vanderson is a tough-tackling defender who can read the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually clears his lines when the opposition are on the front foot and can even create some inviting chances for his teammates from the right flank.

The Brazilian sensation is primarily a right-back but can also function as a right-sided wide player if told to do so by his manager. However, there are some question marks over whether he can cope with the physicality and high intensity of the Premier League if Spurs manage to bring him on board in this summer transfer window.

We can expect Vanderson to add more quality to Tottenham head coach Thomas Frank’s frontline. He has what it takes to nail down a regular first-team spot at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next season.

At 23, Vanderson has his peak years ahead of him which makes him a good choice for the North London club to pursue this off-season. All in all, Frank would be wise to go for a player of Vanderson’s skill set this summer.
