After a torrid six months at FC Barcelona, Vitor Roque left the club to join Real Betis in the summer transfer window and is showing signs of progress.

Indeed, the 19-year-old has established himself as a regular under Manuel Pellegrini and even though there is still plenty of room for improvement, the Brazilian has shown a lot of positives.

The striker has six goals and two assists from 23 appearances in all competitions this season.

Tottenham Hotspur interested in Vitor Roque

Now, as reported by SPORT, a scout from Tottenham Hotspur was present at the Benito Villamarin to watch Vitor Roque in action during Real Betis’ match against Rayo Vallecano.

Tottenham originally travelled to Spain to observe Johnny Cardoso, the Betis midfielder, for whom they hold a purchase option set for June.

However, the Premier League club also enquired about Roque, who has become one of the standout players for Betis this season.

Roque, who scored a goal in the match, is attracting significant attention from both Europe and Brazil.

Earlier this year, several top clubs approached Barcelona regarding a loan deal for Roque, after it was clear that he would not be getting enough minutes at the Catalan club. Among the clubs expressing interest were Inter Milan, Lazio, Porto, and Sporting CP.

Ultimately, both Barça and the player opted to stay in Spain, with Roque joining Betis, where he has become a starter under Pellegrini.

Real Betis secured Roque’s loan for two seasons, with options to purchase the player. There is no immediate urgency to make a decision, but the increasing interest from various clubs could speed up the process.

Tottenham are currently experiencing a mixed run of results, and while no moves are expected in January, the summer transfer window is likely to see significant activity.

Barcelona are monitoring the situation closely and are clear that any potential sale would require an agreement with Betis.

After all, the Andalusian club holds a €25 million option to buy 80% of Roque’s rights, meaning any transfer could be beneficial to all parties involved.

Palmeiras have also shown interest in signing the forward, but the deal is deemed unfeasible, and Roque has expressed that he does not wish to return to Brazil at this time.
