Manchester United have submitted an offer worth €85m, including add-ons, for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko.
Ruben Amorim’s side have been deliberating whether to challenge Newcastle’s approach for the Slovenian striker, with some internal hesitancy whether to match the €90m offer submitted by the Magpies.
However, United have now registered a formal offer worth an initial €75m, with a further €10m dependent on add-ons.
Despite the offer falling short of Newcastle’s proposal, The Athletic are reporting that there is confidence from the Old Trafford side. United believe they are Sesko’s preferred destination, despite the absence of European football for next season.
Leipzig are yet to respond to either offer from the Premier League sides. The German outfit did reject Newcastle’s initial approach, worth €80m, earlier in the window.
Sesko has emerged as the top target for both teams in their centre-forward search. The 22-year-old has scored 39 goals in 87 appearances since joining Leipzig from Red Bull Salzburg in 2023 and has been a long-term target for English clubs.
Arsenal considered Sesko earlier in the window, before turning to Viktor Gyokeres after failing to reach an agreement with Leipzig.
