Inter Milan are monitoring Tottenham Hotspur defender Japhet Tanganga as they continue their search for a new centre-back, reports transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio.

The English centre-back has been heavily linked with an exit this summer, having long been out of favour at Spurs.

Tottenham are keen on offloading Tanganga, who is also open to the idea of joining the Italian giants.

The Nerazzurri appreciate the profile of the 24-year-old, yet they prefer a few other names ahead of him.

Inter are well stacked in the backline with Stefan de Vrij, Alessandro Bastoni, Francesco Acerbi and Yann Bisseck, but they are still looking to bring in a new centre-back.

Having acquired reinforcements on several areas of the pitch, the Nerazzurri are looking to cap off their impressive summer transfer window with a new centre-back.

Atalanta’s Giorgio Scalvini is their dream target, but his €40 million price tag may dampen Inter’s chances of a summer move.

The Nerazzurri are looking at Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah, who will also not come cheap with the Blues insisting on a permanent sale rather than a loan move.

Inter are reportedly planning to go after Bayern Munich’s Benjamin Pavard, who has long been tracked by the Champions League finalists.

Despite competition from Manchester United, Inter have a great chance to land the French defender thanks to their good relationship with the Bavarians following the recent transfer of Yann Sommer to the San Siro.

Inter face Monza in their opening game of the 2023/24 Serie A season on Saturday.
