In a recent report, talkSPORT claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are keen on re-signing Southampton full-back Kyle Walker-Peters. It has been stated that Spurs are eyeing a move to bring the English defender back to the North London club this summer.

Walker-Peters has put in a run of impressive displays on the right side of Southampton’s defence. The 27-year-old has found the back of the net three times and secured three assists in 44 matches for the Saints this season in multiple competitions.

The English talent has been a positive influence at both ends of the field based on his average of 1.7 tackles, 1.1 interceptions, 1.2 clearances, 0.9 shots, 1.0 key passes and 1.9 dribbles per game in the EFL Championship. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball from the right flank after completing 91% of his attempted passes in the second tier of English football (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the English club will expire at the end of next season. Hence, Spurs could potentially sign him on the cheap in the upcoming transfer window.

Should Tottenham Hotspur Boss Angelos Postecoglu Bring Walker-Peters Back?

Walker-Peters is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind clearing the danger when needed and can even create the odd chance for his teammates in the opponent’s half.

The English sensation is a good dribbler with the ball and can shoot the ball with venom from long range. He is primarily a right-back but can also fill in as a left-back if asked to do so.

We can expect Walker-Peters to bring more quality to Tottenham head coach Angelos Postecoglu’s defence. He is good enough to challenge for a regular starting role at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next season.

At 27, Walker-Peters is about to enter his prime which makes him a worthy target for Spurs to pursue later this year. Hence, Postecoglu should think about bringing him back to the North London club at the end of this campaign. However, only time will tell whether the English talent can maintain his good form in the Premier League if Spurs manage to re-sign him.
