In a recent report, The Sun stated that Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to land Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher. It has been revealed that Spurs are eyeing a move to bring the English playmaker to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.

Gallagher’s Impressive Form At Stamford Bridge

Gallagher has proven his worth at times but has struggled to find consistency at the West London club during this campaign. The 24-year-old has registered five goals and eight assists in 41 matches for Chelsea this season across all fronts.

The English talent deserves a ton of credit for averaging 2.4 tackles, 1.2 interceptions, 1.4 shots, 1.6 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball after completing 90.9% of his attempted passes in the top tier of English football (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the North London club will run out at the end of next season. Thus, Tottenham could potentially sign him on a cut-price deal later this year.

Is Gallagher A Decent Fit For Tottenham Hotspur Boss Angelos Postecoglu?

Gallagher is a tough-tackling midfielder who usually works his socks off for his team defensively. He can strike the ball with venom and precision from long range and has got the vision to engineer a few decent chances for his teammates in the opponent’s half.

The English talent is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet. He is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also operate in the number ten position or as a defensive midfielder if told to do so.

Gallagher would inject more quality into Tottenham Hotspur head coach Angelos Postecoglu’s midfield department. He has already got enough experience in the Premier League and won’t take much time to settle into life at the North London club if Postecoglu can devise a way to get him on board later this year.

At 24, Gallagher has his best years ahead of him which makes him a good fit for Spurs‘ needs in the long run. He might even help Tottenham challenge for a major trophy or two over the next few years. Thus, the London club should focus on snapping him up in this summer transfer period.
