In a recent report, Fichajes stated that Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a move for Real Sociedad winger Takefusa Kubo this summer. It is understood that Spurs have made a tempting offer to acquire the services of the Japan international at the end of this campaign.

The 22-year-old is having a decent campaign at the Spanish club after putting in a series of impressive displays in the final third. Kubo has found the back of the net seven times and secured four assists in 39 appearances for Real Sociedad this season in all competitions.

The Japan international has been a reliable performer in the opponent’s half as he is averaging 1.6 shots, 1.9 key passes and 1.8 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball based on his pass completion rate of 80.5% in the top tier of Spanish football (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the Spanish club will expire in the summer of 2029. Hence, Spurs would have to launch a big offer if they are serious about recruiting Kubo in the upcoming transfer window.

What Will Kubo Bring To Tottenham Hotspur?

Kubo is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few driving runs out in the wide areas. He can strike the ball purely and with venom from long range. The Japanese wing wizard has also got the vision to create some inviting chances for others around him in the final third. He is primarily a right-sided wide player but can also fill in as a left-sided wide player or as an attacking midfielder if asked to do so.

We can expect Kubo to bring more firepower to Tottenham Hotspur boss Angelos Postecoglu’s frontline. He is good enough to increase competition for places within the North London club‘s match-day squad.

At 22, Kubo has got a promising future ahead of him which makes him a worthy option for Spurs to pursue at the end of this campaign. However, it remains to be seen whether the Japan international can adjust to the physicality and high intensity of Premier League football if Postecoglu can get him on board this summer.
