Rodrigo Bentancur will follow the standard concussion protocol before returning to the Tottenham Hotspur squad, manager Ange Postecoglou has confirmed.
The Uruguay international was stretchered off in the opening stages of the 1-0 win after lying motionless on the ground following a diving header, with replays later appearing to show Bentancur hit his head on the pitch as he landed.
Fans were immediately concerned for Bentancur but the midfielder soon moved to ease worries with a social media post from hospital insisting all was okay.
Postecoglou confirmed in his Friday press conference that Bentancur was diagnosed with a simple concussion, the protocol for which will keep him on the sidelines for two weeks.
"Good news, thankfully," Postecoglou began. "He was in the hospital, obviously, and did all the tests in terms of just checking, making sure that everything was okay. He's back home, and he's fine.
"He's feeling good. We will obviously follow the protocols now. I think it's a couple of weeks where you've just got to make sure that everything's okay. But, thankfully, it looks like a concussion, but nothing more than that.
"It was distressing, you saw especially Pedro [Porro], he was the first one there and knew it was a distressing situation. I thought the lads handled it well, and our medical team handled it well, and, as I say, thankfully, all good."
Two weeks on the sidelines will see Bentancur miss Sunday's FA Cup clash with Tamworth and the north London derby against Arsenal three days later. His final absence should come away to Everton the following weekend, before a possible return for Spurs in the Europa League against Hoffenheim on Thursday, 23 January.
