Tottenham Hotspur survived a late Crystal Palace fightback to move five points clear at the top of the Premier League thanks to two second-half goals.
Scorers: Ayew 90+4ā²; Ward (OG) 53ā², Son 67ā².
An own-goal from Joel Ward and a superb team move finished off by Heung-min Son extended the unbeaten start to the season from Ange Postecoglouās side to 10 games.
It couldāve been different story if Palace had taken their two best chances inside the first six minutes with Guglielmo Vicario on hand to keep out Jordan Ayewās pot-shot from the edge of the area.
The Italian made a better save moments later, getting down to quick to keep out Odsonne Edouardās goal-bound half-volley with one hand.
Spurs struggled to break down the Palace resolve in the first half and didnāt manage a shot on target in the first hour of the game but the breakthrough came seven minutes into the second period.
James Maddison drilled a low cross across the face of the goal which was inadvertently turned into his own net by Ward from underneath the crossbar.
Marc GuƩhi spurned a great chance to level immediately when he broke free from his marker from a corner but his free header flew wide of the post.
The visitors extended their advantage with 23 minutes to go and it came in some style as a sublime team move started at the back from Vicario and involving Pedro Porro, Yves Bissouma and Maddison led to Brennan Johnson cutting the ball back for Son to poke home from six yards out.
Ayew looked to have got Palace back in the game with a thumping half-volley four minutes into stoppage time but the goal proved to only be a late consolation.
Tottenham open up a gap at the top but that can be whittled back down to two points if Arsenal beat Sheffield United on Saturday.
