Tottenham Hotspur ace Pedro Porro could 'transform' the Lilywhites' season once he gets going under boss Antonio Conte, transfer insider Dean Jones has informed GIVEMESPORT.

Spurs are in the hunt for a top-four finish and made a major statement last weekend with a 1-0 victory over Manchester City to boost their chances.

Tottenham latest news - Pedro Porro

On deadline day, Tottenham acquired Porro from Sporting Lisbon for an initial £5 million fee on loan, in a deal that includes an obligation to buy for £39 million at the end of the season, as reported by Sky Sports News.

The 22-year-old is yet to feature for his new side and Football London has revealed that Porro has actually been struggling with a bout of illness in the last few days, which meant that he wasn't included in the matchday squad to face Manchester City.

Emerson Royal started at right wing-back for Spurs against the reigning champions, putting in a stellar performance which will give Porro some competition for his place in the starting lineup in the coming weeks.

Tottenham also let two right-sided defenders depart in the January window, with Djed Spence joining Rennes on loan and Matt Doherty terminating his contract before completing a move to Atletico Madrid as a free agent.

What has Dean Jones said about Pedro Porro?

Transfer insider Jones believes that Porro could 'transform' Spurs' season once he gets his chance to shine in the side.

Jones told GMS: "I mean, obviously, they haven't put all this effort into him for no reason. I don't think this is the same as Djed Spence when they put months of work into signing him and then he was never seen. I mean, this isn't; that was more of a club signing, where this was somebody [Porro], I'm told it was very much a Conte signing and a man that the management team felt could transform their season, so I do expect to see him soon."

What are Pedro Porro's stats this season?

Porro has been mightily impressive in 2022/23, recording three goals and 11 assists from 26 appearances in all competitions for Sporting Lisbon, as per Transfermarkt.

WhoScored also notes that the 22-year-old has made an average of 2.4 key passes per match in Liga Portugal this term, which is quite incredible when you take into account he is a defender by trade.

Of course, he has been frequently used in a higher-up role on the right-hand side, contributing majorly to his outstanding numbers going forward and supporting the attack.

This can only bode well for Spurs, as Porro will undoubtedly have a license to get forward and cause trouble in Conte's notorious right wing-back role.
