Brondby IF have said their goodbyes to defender Sigurd Rosted, who appears to be on his way to complete a transfer to Toronto FC.

The 28-year-old center-back has been linked with a move to the Reds, who are looking to significantly boost their roster after missing out on the MLS Cup Playoffs for two consecutive seasons.

Rosted's move to TFC is yet to be officially sealed. However, if a statement posted to Brondby's official website is anything to go by, that could all change soon.

"Brondby IF today says goodbye to Sigurd Rosted, as the Norwegian central defender now travels to MLS club Toronto FC to negotiate his personal terms," the statement read.

The player himself added: "I have had some good seasons in Brondby IF, and I will always look back on the championship season with great pride. I have had a really good time in Denmark and am now looking forward to trying my hand at MLS."

A five-time Norway international, Rosted leaves having played 95 games for Brondby across all competitions, helping the club lift the 2020/21 Danish Superliga title. Previously, the defender played in Belgium with Gent and Norway with Kjelsås and Sarpsborg 08.
