After spending most of the last two-and-a-half years on loan, Toño Rodríguez was brought back in from Lobos BUAP and thrust into the starting XI ahead of budding star and last season’s starter Raúl Gudiño.
In an interview with Marca, Rodríguez explained what’s changed since Tomás Boy took over at the club.
“I had to go through an adaptation process and learn different ideas from the coach. I went back to work with colleagues I already knew, but they now play very different from how I had known them before.
“They are a very open group that welcomed me in a very good way. We all work hard, even though we went through a pre-season complicated by the bad results.
“Defensively we gave up many goals and I think that one way or another that will force you to work harder.
“But I think in the end it was important to point out our flaws and continue working on different aspects of our game that will help us perform better in the league.”
Chivas will look to make it two wins in a row on Friday night when they face Puebla.
