Last night, the FIFA Best award ceremony took place which saw Vinicius Junior handed the award following his performances with Real Madrid over the last year.
The head coaches and captains of the national teams as well as a group of journalists voted for their top three and then they would be given a number of points which would determine their overall ranking. There were only two German representatives in the top 10, Toni Kroos and Florian Wirtz.
Kroos was seventh in the ranking behind Lionel Messi following his role in helping Real Madrid win the Champions League and La Liga. While Wirtz was ranked 10th after he was one of Bayer Leverkusen’s key players in their unbeaten domestic season and double as well as playing a role in Germany’s progression into the quarter-finals of EURO 2024.
When it came to coach of the year, Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso finished second behind Real Madrid’s Carlo Ancelotti.

Best Men’s Player: Florian Wirtz (1st), Rodri (2nd), Toni Kroos (3rd)
Best Men’s Coach: Luis de la Fuente (1st), Xabi Alonso (2nd), Lionel Scaloni (3rd)
