South Africa head coach Hugo Broos has sounded the alarm for his Bafana Bafana squad. According to him, Nigeria can still qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. "We knew from the start that the team we had to beat was Nigeria. Even though they had a poor start, they [Nigeria] can still qualify," Broos stated, as quoted by Iol.

South Africa currently tops Group C with 13 points from 6 matches. Even with a six-point cushion over Nigeria, Broos believes the Super Eagles still have a shot at direct qualification in the final four matches of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

It's worth noting that on matchdays 7 and 8 of the qualifiers, South Africa will take on Lesotho on September 5 at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein before hosting Nigeria four days later.
