Everton midfielder Tom Davies has bid farewell to the club he joined as an 11-year-old.

After falling out of favour this season, Davies has left the Toffees due to his desire for regular first-team football.

Davies’ journey with Everton has been remarkable. After rising through the ranks, he debuted for the first team at 17.

He amassed 179 appearances and showcased his leadership skills by captaining Everton at a mere 20 years old.

He also had the honour of skippering the England national team at youth level.

However, Davies’ opportunities on the pitch dwindled significantly this season. He started only four Premier League matches as Everton narrowly avoided relegation.

With his contract set to expire in the summer, Everton offered him an extension, hoping to retain his services.

Davies declined the proposal, signalling his intention to seek a new club.

Everton Director of Football, Kevin Thelwell, said (via the club’s official website): “We offered Tom a new contract, but he feels he has reached the stage in his career where he needs regular first-team football and, as a result, he wants to look at alternative options away from Everton.

“As a lifelong Evertonian and proud Scouser, Tom has always given everything for the club. We respect his decision and thank him for his service and commitment.

“Everyone at Everton wishes him the very best for the future.”

Where is Davies going to?

One potential destination for the midfielder is Rangers, with manager Michael Beale expressing his admiration for Davies earlier this year.

Beale said (via talkSPORT): “Tom Davies – he used to kick my Liverpool Under 23s team all around the place. There’s a bit of John Lundstram about him.”

There have been talks between the Scottish club and the player, fuelling speculation about a potential move to the Glasgow-based outfit.
