RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner was reportedly ‘left frustrated’ by a lack of transfer interest from Bayern Munich.
Werner – who had one year left on his previous deal – was expected to join Bayern for free next summer.
But the 23-year-old signed a new four year extension on Sunday, putting those transfer rumours to bed.
According to Sky Germany, the reason for signing wasn’t due to Leipzig, but down to a lack of contact from the Bundesliga champions.
He received a sizeable pay increase and will undoubtedly learn from new manager Julian Nagelsmann, but his heart was set in Bavaria.
It remains unclear whether any clauses were inserted into his new deal but for now – Bayern missed their opportunity.
