The London derbies come thick and fast, with Tottenham travelling to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea just four days after suffering a 3-2 defeat at home to bitter North London rivals Arsenal.

The Blues possess the greater head-to-head record, having won 78 of their 176 meetings with Spurs – with the Lilywhites claiming the bragging rights on 55 occasions – but a run of three games without a win across all competitions could hamper Mauricio Pochettino’s side’s chances of increasing their winning tally.

Spurs will be desperate to get their season back on track. If they win both of their games in hand, they could move to within one point of fourth-placed Aston Villa, although they will need to get back to winning ways soon, having lost each of their last two.

An exciting encounter is in store, and kick-off at Stamford Bridge is scheduled for 19:30 on Thursday, 2nd May, with all the action available to watch in the UK on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League.

Spurs could dictate title with win

Despite not being in the title race, Tottenham could likely have a major say in the destination of the trophy come the end of the campaign.

If they come away from Stamford Bridge with all three points and claim victory over Liverpool and Burnley in their upcoming fixtures, Ange Postecolgou’s men will be firmly on the heels of the top four and a coveted Champions League spot.

However, this could put them in an unenviable position of needing to beat title challengers Manchester City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to ensure qualification for Europe’s flagship club competition, a result which could put bitter rivals Arsenal in the driving seat for the league title.

The first step on this road to the potential showstopper in May will be overturning their recent slump by claiming all three points at Chelsea, a feat they have not achieved since 2018. But after finding the net in all but two of their Premier League fixtures this season, Spurs should have more than enough firepower to get a result.

Chelsea vs Tottenham team news

Blues defender Thiago Silva recently announced that he would leave the club at the end of the season, but the veteran is unlikely to feature against Tottenham, having sustained a groin injury at Aston Villa at the weekend.

He joins a lengthy injury list, including Ben Chilwell, Reece James, Malo Gusto, Wesley Fofana, Carney Chukwuemeka, Lesley Ugochukwu, Romeo Lavia and Enzo Fernandez.

Spurs have a quintet of absentees expected to remain on the treatment table, with Ryan Sessegnon, Fraser Forster, Manor Solomon, Destiny Udogie and former Chelsea striker Timo Werner all likely to miss out.
