SAN NICOLÁS DE LOS GARZA, Mexico — Tigres UANL won 3-2 against Los Angeles Galaxy, winning 3-2 on aggregate, in the second leg of their quarterfinals series as the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup continued Tuesday at Estadio Universitario in San Nicolás de los Garza, Nuevo León, Mexico.

Nicolas Ibañez opened the scoring in the 9’ with a header inside the box to connect on a pinpoint cross from Diego Lainez.

Uriel Antuna extended the lead for the Mexican side in the 10’ to capitalize on a quick buildup. Fernando Gorriarán won the ball in midfield to start the counterattack, connecting with Rafael Carioca, who delivered the assist.

Both sides traded shots on target in the 33’, with LA Galaxy goalkeeper John McCarthy denying Juan Brunetta. On the other end, Tigres UANL goalkeeper Nahuel Guzmán used his feet to strip the ball away from Christian Ramirez.

Joseph Paintsil took one back for the visitors in the 40’, using his speed to pounce on a back pass from Joaquim Henrique, circumventing Guzmán to cut the deficit.

Rômulo restored a two-goal lead for the hosts in the 57’, striking a header in the box to meet a cross from Lainez.

Emiro Garcés put LA Galaxy back within one in the 60’ with a strike inside the six-yard box, completing an opportunity off a corner kick.

The Galaxy had another corner kick attempt to conclude the match, but the Tigres UANL defense held on to win the series.

Tigres UANL moves on to the semifinals for the first time since the 2023 edition. LA Galaxy exits the tournament in the quarterfinals for the sixth occasion.
