Here are three things you may have missed from one of Euro 2025’s most thrilling encounters.

1. ⚽ Italy’s disallowed “double” strike early in the second half

Just three minutes after Cristiana Girelli's opener in the 50th minute, Italy thought they doubled their lead when Arianna Caruso bundled in from close range, but the goal was ruled out for offside.

It was a tight call that could have put Italy out of reach before VAR intervened, keeping Norway in the contest.

2. 🎯 Hegerberg’s recurring penalty miss and rebound

Norway captain Ada Hegerberg stepped up for a critical penalty around the 60th minute. The Norwegian captain couldn't hold her composure and missed her second spot-kick of the tournament, curling just wide.

Remarkably, she bounced back just six minutes later with a well-taken finish to level at 1‑1 to set up a tense finale.

3. 🕘 The 90th-minute heroics: Girelli’s header

With extra time looming, Girelli emerged again, ghosting in at the far post to hook home her second goal of the game in stoppage time.

The goal not only sealed a 2‑1 victory but marked Italy’s first Women’s Euros semi-final appearances since 1997.
