Chelsea’s official website has a cracking feature on Cesar Azpilicueta after the right back reached 300 Premier League appearances for the club.

It’s full of praise for the Spanish right back from all sorts, especially from current manager Thomas Tuchel.

The Blues boss described it as “an honour” to coach Azpi, who has won it all since arriving in 2012 from Marseille without much fanfare, and for a modest sum.

“To play 300 matches at that kind of level and to win so many trophies, you deserve it. There is no luck behind it, it is all down to hard work and determination,” the manager raved.

He’s rapidly climbing the list of Chelsea appearance makers, and is closing in on some true club legends like Dennis Wise and Petr Cech.

He’s won more than any of them now, and doesn’t look like stopping even as he heads into his mid 30s. The understated Basque captain has impressed everyone since arriving for a bargain fee, and we’ll never stop appreciating him.
