On Tuesday night, Thomas Partey turned in a masterclass performance to help guide Atlético Madrid to a surprise 1-0 victory over Liverpool in the first leg of Champions League round-of-16 action.
The number six, who came through the Atlético system, has already featured 171 times for Atlético in his career and has no intention on leaving the club until the Spaniards make him.
“I feel good, with confidence, when I am in good shape the team notices,” Thomas told The One Party.
“Simeone is like a teacher, like a father to the players, it helps us a lot. Atlético is like my home, the place where I want to always be, it’s like my family.
“I hope to stay in the club, I would like to retire here, but you never know what can happen. I want to stay here until the club doesn’t love me.”
The 26-year-old Ghana international signed a new deal in March 2018 and is under contract until summer 2023.
