When asked how his time at the club had been so far, Letsch had nothing but positives as you’d imagine: “Absolutely positive. When I started the job, it felt like everyone in Germany said that Bochum would be relegated. Now we’re back in the thick of it. But only the conclusion at the end of the season counts.”

One thing is for sure, Letsch appears very confident in his side and is confident of their Bundesliga survival.

When asked the simple question, will Bochum stay up the coach was quick to respond: “I say with full conviction: Yes! We hold the class because we are a good unit. Especially in the home games, but also recently in Augsburg. I am convinced that we will leave at least two teams behind.”

Letsch also gave an insight into how Bochum will approach their games in 2023: “We have to give the team a clear path. That means: High, aggressive and active attacking when playing against the ball.”

After 15 games, Bochum sit in 17th place on 13 points. Just one point from safety, the team’s fate is safety within their own hands. Bochum restarts their season with a huge match against Hertha Berlin on January 21st. Hertha sit just above the relegation places on 14 points.
