Manchester United’s potential search for a manager to replace Erik ten Hag at the end of the season added a new name recently.

Brentford’s Thomas Frank, who is close with INEOS and Sir Dave Brailsford was recently reported as a United target.

Frank would come with an immediate Premier League pedigree and years of overachievement on a relatively minor budget, perfect for United who are struggling with Financial Fair Play.

The Dane was recently asked about this link and kept the door open for a future move, welcoming the praise and attention for his project at Brentford.

In an interview with Danish outlet Bold, Frank said: “I think it is flattering [interest in his services] and recognition in relation to what I do. And I am glad that others are noticing the work we are doing in Brentford.

“Having said that, what goes on in Brentford is not a one-man show.”

Frank signed a new deal to keep him at Brentford in 2022 which runs till 2027 and has mentioned in the past that it will take something “extraordinary” to tempt him out of there.

In the same interview, he even goes on to say that he is really happy at Brentford which is “close to the perfect club for me”.

However, there is no doubt that the jump from the London club to Manchester United is an inviting one, especially with the new ownership putting a structure in place to empower the manager.

He has been with Brentford since 2018 and after an unexpected promotion, kept the club in the league against all odds, creating many superstars in the process.

Making the most of his resources is precisely the opposite of what United have been doing for the last decade which could make him an enticing candidate for Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Co.

Maybe an offer from Manchester United under INEOS is exactly the “extraordinary” thing Frank has always said would tempt him to leave Brentford.
