Lauren Hemp has described the current Manchester City team as ‘special’ having agreed to a three-year contract extension.

The England international has committed her future to the Club until 2027, having first moved to the City Football Academy back in May 2018.

A four-time winner of the PFA Young Player of the Year award and member of the Lionesses’ Euro 2022-winning squad, the 23-year-old has forged a reputation as one of the most exciting wingers in world football.

But Hemp still has plenty of silverware ambitions, and believes City is the best place for her to make that a reality in the years to come.

“I’m really excited,” she said about signing an extension.

“This is a special team and I really want to be involved in the squad for the next few years. I feel like you can’t get rid of me!

“I’m really excited, I want to win trophies with this team, and I know we’re capable of doing it.

“We’ve not yet won every trophy I want to win yet. I’m so passionate about this club, and there’s no place I’d rather be.”

Hemp joined the Club as a 17-year-old from Bristol City back in May 2018, making her one of the longest serving players in the current squad.

With over 150 appearances, 65 goals and four major honours to her name, the winger has already enjoyed a hugely successful career on the pitch at City.

However, the winger explained that how much she feels at home off the pitch also played an important role in her decision to remain at the Club until the summer of 2027.

She added: “For me it’s not just about the club, I feel at home here in Manchester.

“It’s so special to me, I’ve got so many friends here and I feel like the WSL is the best league to be in and that City is perfect for me.

“I love everything about the Club, it’s so special to feel involved in something.

“I feel like we’re capable of achieving anything and know we can do it with the team we have. I’m very excited to keep this journey going.”
