FC Barcelona paved their way to another La Liga title as they beat Real Madrid with a 4-3 scoreline last night. With this win, the Blaugranes are seven points clear at the top of the league table, and with only three games left to play in this campaign, their being the Spanish champions this season is a foregone conclusion.

The Brazilian winger Raphinha was once again key for his side, as he scored two goals in this match. These goals proved to be vital, as the third one put his side ahead after overturning a 2-goal deficit, while the fourth ensured the win for his side after the Merengues scored one in the second half. As a result, he was named the Man of the Match for this game.

Raphinha hails the team’s composure

As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the Barcelona forward also talked to the media after this game. He highlighted the efforts he has been making for quite some time now:

“The truth is, I’ve been working hard for moments like these. I’ve been striving to be my best since I arrived, to help the team and bring joy to the fans. I came to Barça to win titles and write my name in the club’s history.”

The Brazilian star also commented on the factors that allowed his team to get another comeback win:

“I think we manage our emotions very well during the match. This has happened to us many times and we’ve come back. The most important thing is that the team stays calm. We controlled the game well.”

Looking for further improvements

Despite his impressive performance in this game, Raphinha was looking forward to making even more improvements in his game:

“This was what I was missing. I hadn’t scored at home in El Clásico yet, and bringing this joy to the fans is very important to me. The truth is, I’m happy, but I also demand more from myself—I focus more on the chances I missed. I’m where I am because of this mentality.”

The Brazilian was reminded he can win the trophy in Cornella, like he did in his first season at Barcelona, but he, like some of his other teammates, highlighted that they still need to win one more game:

There is no doubt that this has been the best season of Raphinha’s career. Now, looking forward to a great end to the season, the Brazilian star would already be looking forward to winning his first Balon d’Or.
