Back in the January transfer window earlier this year, FC Barcelona made a concrete push to rope in Marcus Rashford on loan from Manchester United.
However, the failure to offload Ansu Fati meant that the necessary salary space was not created, leading to the Catalans calling off the pursuit, following which Rashford ended up at Aston Villa on loan for the rest of the season.
As the season nears an end, the Manchester United outcast is unlikely to continue at Villa Park and with no place for him at Old Trafford under Ruben Amorim, a new destination awaits.
Barcelona, for their part, continue to see Rashford as a potential target, as they admire his versatility and experience.
Now, according to journalist Victor Navarro, Rashford himself is ‘desperate’ to join Barcelona and has been since the winter transfer window.
This comes after the England forward posted a comment praising Barça wonderkid Lamine Yamal after the Clasico win over Real Madrid last night, wherein he wrote: “Young King.”

Rashford sees Barcelona as a ‘dream’ move and is willing to do everything in his power to try and engineer a transfer.
In fact, as reported last week, the Manchester United academy product has even joined up with Pini Zahavi, who has excellent relations with Barça, to offer himself to the club.
Any move, however, will depend on the economic conditions of the operation, with Barcelona likely to lean towards a loan move with the player taking a significant pay cut as well.
For now, the Blaugrana are focused on securing the La Liga title, which is only one step away after the Clasico triumph last evening.
Once that is sealed, the focus will shift to transfer operations for next season and it will be interesting to see if Rashford features on Deco and Hansi Flick’s list.
