Real Madrid have been sensationally dumped OUT of the Copa del Rey by Segunda División B side Alcoyano, who finished the match with 10 men!
Madrid controlled the early stages and Fede Valverde forced a good save from 41-year-old Alcoyano goalkeeper José Juan with the first attempt on goal of the game.
But it took until just before half-time for the deadlock to finally be broken. A super ball into the box from Marcelo found Éder Militão, and the defender powered a header into the corner for 1-0.
Zinedine Zidane’s side went searching for a second goal in the second half and forced a couple of good saves from Juan.
But with 10 minutes remaining, the LaLiga champions were stunned by an Alcoyano equalising goal.
A corner in was flicked on to the back post, where José Solbes stabbed home for the Tercera División club to send the match to extra-time.
Both sides had chances to win the game during the first half of the extra period and Alcoyano were forced to play the final 10 minutes with 10 men when Ramón López was shown a second yellow card for a late lunge on Casemiro.
But as if the 10-man underdog’s performance hadn’t already been remarkable enough, they then took the lead with five minutes of extra-time remaining.
With Los Blancos pressing forward in search of a winner, the hosts broke down field and Ali Diakité picked out Juanan at the near post to score one of the biggest goals in the club’s history.
An unbelievable result that will pile further pressure on under-fire Zidane.
