Kylian Mbappe was the star of the show once again as Real Madrid secured a comfortable 3-0 win over Real Oviedo last weekend.

The Frenchman scored twice and lead the line responsibly in a day where Xabi Alonso opted to leave out Vinicius Junior on the bench.

After a debut season that saw him bag the Pichichi trophy, Mbappe appears to have stepped up his game further and is looking like the real deal at the moment, with three league goals already to his name.

It must be remembered that Mbappe didn’t have a great start to the summer, as the forward lost a lot of weight due to food poisoning. However, the Frenchman has since rebuilt himself nicely.

Mbappe’s physical revolution this summer

As reported by SPORT, Mbappe appears to have gone a complete body transformation during the course of the summer.

Following the illness, he worked through a club-prescribed conditioning plan combined with outdoor activities like tennis and padel.

The result has been a more muscular, balanced frame, particularly in his lower body. This has enhanced his explosiveness, finesse, and finishing.

The improvement was clear against Oviedo. His first goal came from a slick through ball by Arda Guler, which Mbappe converted with trademark precision.

So far in 2025, Mbappe has scored 33 goals in 37 games. Since the start of the 2024/25 campaign, no player in Europe’s top five leagues has netted more than his 47, putting him ahead of Harry Kane, Robert Lewandowski, and Serhou Guirassy.

This is a testament to Mbappe’s committment to Real Madrid and a major positive for Real Madrid, as new coach Alonso looks to build his team around the talented Frenchman, who has also become the club’s main penalty and free-kick taker this season.
