One day, as the problems between Messi and Bartomeu's administration escalated, Messi made his historic statement to a media outlet: "I will not go to court against the club of my life!" And that is exactly what happened. Messi never went to court and never faced Barcelona in that courtroom. However, it seems that things are a little different here, as recently, the dispute between Barcelona and the German Ter Stegen has actually escalated.

Things are getting worse

The Catalan club has taken a firm stance against their German goalkeeper, with club officials now preparing for courtroom proceedings. Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo reports Barcelona's leadership believes they hold a strong legal position in the dispute.

At the heart of the conflict lies the club's accusation of bad faith conduct by the 33-year-old shot-stopper. The situation deteriorated when Ter Stegen allegedly refused to submit required medical reports regarding his injury - an act Barcelona management viewed as direct insubordination, prompting disciplinary measures.

While the goalkeeper's contract runs through 2028, tensions reached breaking point following his recent clash with manager Hansi Flick. Ter Stegen has made clear he considers the club's treatment unacceptable and intends to fight any forced exit.
