Gareth Taylor’s Manchester City side currently occupy second place in the league table while Arsenal are in fourth. Both sides are capable of going on to end the season in pole position if they are ultra-consistent in the final weeks of the campaign.
When speaking in the pre-match press conference, Manchester City boss Taylor said that confidence is high in his side’s camp ahead of another huge game in the quest for league silverware.
“We’re very confident at the moment, we are in a good place, the confidence is good in the team and the energy is good,” Taylor said.
“Of course, it is a game that we are looking forward to, these games will be key. I think it is just about concentrating on what we do, what we do really well and trying to execute that to the highest standard that we possibly can.”
Manchester City took another important step towards the title with a 2-0 victory over reigning champions Chelsea last weekend. The Cityzens were excellent in that match but Taylor says that his players still want more and that training this week has been on another level.
He said “The build-up has been really good, really confident. As good as a result it was (against Chelsea), we’ve looked at the performance and without getting carried away, we’ve looked at ways where we can be even better.
“It’s just about us setting the standards high and trying to improve game-on-game because we’ve always felt that when we are at our very best, we are really difficult to play against.”
Manchester City’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture at Arsenal kicks-off at 12.30pm.
