“There’s going to be injuries” – Kyle Walker offers personal take on Premier League title race with Arsenal and Liverpool | OneFootball

Manchester City captain Kyle Walker has offered his own personal take on the ongoing Premier League title battle against Arsenal and Liverpool this season.

The top three clubs in England premier division find themselves separated by just one point heading into the business end of the season, and with Manchester City and Arsenal going head-to-head in their respective next top-flight outing.

Manchester City failed to beat rivals Liverpool in each of their meetings this season, having been held to 1-1 draws both at home and away, while Pep Guardiola and his players were defeated 1-0 in their reverse clash at the Emirates Stadium against Mikel Arteta’s men.

With very little to separate all clubs, and some fans and pundits alike believing that the Premier League title could right down to the wire or even be decided by goal difference, a senior member of Manchester City’s squad has offered his honest take on the trophy battle.

Speaking prior to the ongoing international break, and in light of Manchester City’s most-recent Premier League outing in which they drew 1-1 against Liverpool, Kyle Walker was asked to offer his thoughts on the top-flight title race, and who has ‘the edge’ in the battle at present.

“I don’t think no-one has got the edge. We are where we are; Arsenal at the top of the league with a point. We’ve got some tough games like the rest of them, we’ve all got tough games,” Walker explained.

“We know the Premier League, we’ve been here many years, and we’ve seen a lot of twists and turns, ups and downs. So there’s a lot of football to be played as you say, there’s 10 big, important games to play and hopefully for Manchester City we go and do that big four-in-a-row which no-ones ever done.”

Walker continued during his conversation with Sky Sports by pointing towards Manchester City’s congested fixture schedule, as well as the possibility for further impacts on title challengers’ playing squads due to fitness problems and potential injury setbacks.

“In the midst of all that, we’ve got the FA Cup, we’ve got the Champions League, there’s going to be injuries, there’s going to be setbacks, and you just have to manage each game as it comes – I’m a big believer in that,” the City captain explained. “Don’t look too far into the future, you do a game at a time because I feel that’s the only thing you can affect.”

Alongside Manchester City’s high-profile battle with Mikel Arteta’s side a week on Sunday, Pep Guardiola will also have his eyes set on a hugely challenging April fixture schedule, with an FA Cup semi-final and UEFA Champions League quarter-final on the horizon.

City will come up against Chelsea at Wembley Stadium in the last-four of the FA Cup, taking on Coventry City or Manchester United in the showpiece final, while Real Madrid are the club’s opponents in the last-eight of Europe’s premier club competition.

Those mammoth contests are accompanied by a number of hugely important Premier League battles, including visits to Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest, as well as Aston Villa travelling to the Etihad Stadium.
