Manchester City will take on Ipswich Town at the Etihad Stadium this weekend. The champions will be looking to follow up on their 2-nil win over Chelsea with another three points over the newly promoted side. Heading into the game there are two major injury concerns for the world champions. As the champions trained today, there was mixed news on the injury front for Pep Guardiola’s side.

SkySports News reporter Ben Ransom has reported via X that Savinho has trained today. The Brazilian winger was taken off at halftime of City’s win over Chelsea due to a knee injury. But the signs are that the dynamic winger should be available for the home opener for the champions against Ipswich Town. In footage shared on Manchester City’s official X account, the Brazilian winger is showing no ill effects from the injury he sustained at Stamford Bridge. The footage can be seen below.

While there was good news on Savinho’s status there wasn’t such a positive update on the status of Rodri. As per Ben Ransom’s tweet City’s midfield general failed to train today. The midfielder was injured during the first half of Spain’s win over England in the European Championships final. He suffered a hamstring strain during the game. Since returning to Manchester City after his summer the midfielder is yet to train. But City’s cautious approach with Rodri stands to reason. There is no need to take any risks with Rodri during the early stages of the season. He is too important to Pep Guardiola’s side so it is unlikely that he will return to the pitch until he is 100% fit.

A further update on the condition of the Manchester City squad is expected when Pep Guardiola fronts the media on Friday. But as it stands currently Savinho looks ready to play and Rodri doesn’t based on Ben Ransom’s new report.
