More UEFA Women’s Champions League action kicked off on Thursday with the final spots in the group stages up for grabs.
Here is how everything went down.
Scorers: Stašková 34′
After winning in Albania, Juventus held the upper hand heading into their second-leg fixture back in Italy.
Yet even with the advantage, the hosts were looking for more and lunged forward in attack against Vllaznia.
Early attempts from Sofie Junge Pedersen, Arianna Caruso fell just short of breaking the deadlock.
Eventually, the lone goal from Andrea Stašková proved to be enough for the Serie A side to book a spot in the next round for the first time 3-0 on aggregate.
Scorers: Miedema 60′, 70′, 72′, Little 76′ (P)
Arsenal were aiming to become the second English club to earn a place in the group stages during their trip to Prague.
Right from kickoff, the visitors dominated possession and sent waves of attack forward hoping to add to their 3-0 aggregate lead.
The hosts, however, weren’t allowing Arsenal to break them down and put on a strong defensive shift while trying some counterattacks of their own.
The deadlock wasn’t broken until the hour mark after Beth Mead’s cross met Miedema whose volley made it 1-0 for Arsenal.
After that, the floodgates opened and Miedema secured a hat-trick (notching 100 goals for her club in the process) before a Kim Little penalty made it 4-0 on the night.
The following clubs will participate in the group stages:
The draw will take place on 13 September.
