The two sides are set to meet in South West London on Saturday evening. Chelsea go into the second leg with a 1-0 lead. Erin Cuthbert netted the only goal in the first leg as The Blues stunned the reigning European champions on their own turf.
A new chapter in Chelsea’s history could be written this weekend with The Blues being on course to secure a second UEFA Women’s Champions League final appearance and the fans are giving their backing to Emma Hayes and her players with more than 30,000 tickets having been sold for the tie.
Success for Chelsea against Barcelona is long overdue. The Blues were defeated 4-0 by the Spaniards in the 2020/2021 UEFA Women’s Champions League final in Gothenburg. Barcelona also knocked Chelsea out of last season’s competition after recording a 2-1 aggregate victory over the Barclays Women’s Super League champions in the semi-finals. Chelsea are well-placed to come out on top this time around but manager Hayes has made it clear that it is only half-time in the tie.
