On Saturday, Cesc Fàbregas announced his decision to retire from football at the age of 36.
The Spanish midfield maestro hangs up his boots having wowed the world in over 800 matches across 21 seasons, with his goals and assists helping him lift 12 major trophies for club and country.

Fàbregas came through Arsenal’s youth system made his professional debut for the Gunners in 2003, becoming the club’s youngest-ever first team player, aged 16 years and 177 days.
He won the FA Cup with Arsenal in 2005, and this goal in a Champions League victory over Milan at San Siro was one of his most memorable during his first spell in England.
Fàbregas was capped 110 times at senior level for La Roja and was part of the legendary team which the Euros in both 2008 and 2012, as well as the 2010 World Cup.

In 2011 Fàbregas returned home to play for Barcelona and he went on to win the Uefa Super Cup, the Fifa Club World Cup, the Supercopa de España, the Copa del Rey and the LaLiga title during his time at the club.

In 2014, he was back in the Premier League with Chelsea. On his debut he provided an outrageous assist in a win away at Burnley.
And there were plenty more assists where that came from, as he helped the Blues to two Premier League titles and two domestic cups during his time in west London.
His next destination was Monaco, whom he joined in 2019 and spent three seasons with.
In the summer of 2022 he made what proved to the final move of his career when he joined Como in Italy’s Serie B.
And Como is where he will now begin his coaching career when he takes charge of the club’s B and Primavera teams following his retirement.
