The curtain has finally came down on a captivating campaign of Serie A action.

Those who had began to doubt the 22-year-old (yes, he’s still that young despite reaching the 250 appearance mark for Milan) were unequivocally silenced this season with a string of inspiring saves as his confidence and aura returned in a major way. It’s just a pity for the club he’ll not be staying to continue his resurgence.

Runner-up: Emil Audero (Sampdoria)

RB: Achraf Hakimi (Inter)

Inter spared no expense in bringing the attack-minded full-back to Italy but he has justified every bit of his hefty fee. There isn’t a patch of grass on the right flank he hasn’t covered with his tireless running and his seven goals and eight assists are extremely impressive for a debut campaign.

Runner-up: Giovanni Di Lorenzo (Napoli)

CB: Cristian Romero (Atalanta)

Unsurprisingly, La Dea are reportedly tipped to trigger the purchase option to make Romero’s move from Juventus permanent as in the space of one season, he has established himself as a key component for Gian Piero Gasperini and proved why everyone was so excited about him two years ago.

Runner-up: Danilo (Juventus)

CB: Milan Škriniar (Inter)

Admittedly, this one is a toss-up between the Slovakian and his defensive colleague Stefan de Vrij. It really is that close between the pair, so valuable have they been for the champions but we’re just giving Škriniar the nod for rediscovering his form in a major way.

Runner-up: Stefan de Vrij (Inter)

LB: Robin Gosens (Atalanta)

A whirlwind force of nature on the left flank for La Dea. Eleven goals and six assists are the kind of numbers most attackers would be pleased with, let alone a left-back! He’s deservedly been rewarded with a Germany call-up for Euro 2020.

Runner-up: Theo Hernández (Milan)

CM: Franck Kessie (Milan)

There are flashier players at Milan who get more headlines but for continued excellent output from start to finish this season, Kessie made them tick and they owe much of their top four finish to his brilliance. He’s truly blossomed into an elite midfielder.

Runner-up: Sergej Milinkovic-Savić (Lazio)

How do Roma keep unearthing these boyhood fans from the city who evolve into superstars? Whatever the answer, they’ve done it again with Pellegrini who this season made the leap from talented prospect to the Giallorossi’s undisputed main man.

Runner-up: Nicolò Barella (Inter)

CM: Rodrigo De Paul (Udinese)

How Udinese have hung on to their midfield jewel is a mystery but after another consistent and outstanding season, it seems very unlikely he’ll still be wowing the Friuliani faithful next season as his list of admirers continues to grow.

Runner-up: Henrikh Mkhitaryan (Roma)

RW: Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus)

Juventus’ struggles certainly can’t be blamed on their star man, who did his best for the cause. After a somewhat sluggish start, he exploded into high gear after the turn of the year and has scored 20 times in the league in 2021.

Runner-up: Domenico Berardi (Sassuolo)

ST: Romelu Lukaku (Inter)

The spearhead, literally on the field and metaphorically in the dressing room, of Inter’s charge to a first Scudetto since 2010, with 24 goals and 11 assists. His position as the league’s best No. 9 has firmly been wrested away from Ciro Immobile.

Runner-up: Dusan Vlahović (Fiorentina)

LW: Lorenzo Insigne (Napoli)

It is a surprise that Napoli’s hometown hero doesn’t seem to have gotten the praise he’s deserved over the last year or so. At 29, he’s put up his best ever scoring season with 19 goals and added seven assists too. Give the man his due!

Runner-up: Simy (Crotone)
