Manchester City will begin their FIFA Club World Cup campaign on Wednesday, the 18th of June. Pep Guardiola’s side will take on Moroccan side Wydad AC in Philadelphia at the Lincoln Financial Field. Ahead of the tournament beginning, Manchester City have today announced their travelling squad for the tournament. It is a strong-looking squad as Pep Guardiola’s side looks to win the inaugural expanded FIFA Club World Cup over the next month.
Manchester City’s travelling squad for the Club World Cup is as follows:
Goalkeepers: Marcus Bettinelli, Stefan Ortega, Ederson.
Defenders: Ruben Dias, Stones, Ake, Ait-Nouri, Vitor Reis, Gvardiol, Akanji, Khusanov, Lewis.
Midfielders/Wingers: Reijnders, Doku, Nico, Rodri, Gundogan, Bernardo Silva, Savinho, Matheus Nunes, Cherki, Echeverri, Foden, Bobb, O’Reilly.
Forwards: Haaland, Marmoush.
On paper, the Manchester City squad that will travel to the FIFA Club World Cup is capable of winning the competition. There are no holes in Pep Guardiola’s squad, and with Manchester City’s four new signings included, there is a new look to the City squad. That is one layer of intrigue to watch for at the expanded Club World Cup. How Manchester City’s new signings perform and adapt to life in a Pep Guardiola team will be of great interest.
Unsurprisingly, Jack Grealish wasn’t included in Manchester City’s travelling squad for the tournament in the United States. That isn’t a surprise as it seems to be only a matter of time before the England international leaves the club.
Pep Guardiola will have a strong squad at his disposal at the FIFA Club World Cup. How his team performs will be fascinating to watch unfold as City chase history and bid to become the first team to win the expanded FIFA Club World Cup.
