The Ibrox Mole is Back as WhatsApp Leak fails to Disrupt Rangers

So who is the Rangers mole in the dressing room? We will offer coverage in due course of Rangers’ excellent victory against the admittedly poor Victoria Plzen (who clearly suffered heinously the loss of their lynchpin Pavel Šulc) but we start with the leak.

On the day of the third round, a leak appeared on WhatsApp. It was was hard to believe, a lineup prediction which saw Tavernier, Raskin, Danilo and Dowell all dropped for a far more balanced XI.

This couldn’t be true.

But it was. It was 100% true, and it got the lineup exactly right, leading to the question of who leaked it.

Someone inside Rangers wanted that team to get out, and while in the end it didn’t hurt Rangers’ exploits v the Czechs, we’ve seen this story many times before. Rangers mole is back in the dressing room!

That is, of a Rangers mole. They accused Kenny Miller of this. We’re not going to make the same mistake ourselves.

What we will say is we know whose WhatsApp account was allegedly leaked, but whether it was by this individual or they were done by someone else, we couldn’t say.

Short version is someone did – someone wanted to give Plzen the heads up on Rangers’ team, and give the advantage.

It didn’t work – Rangers strolled this match with room to spare and barring a big fail in Czechia, will make it to the playoffs.

We don’t like to see this – leaks which undermine the club. We’re far from sold on Russell Martin, but we would defend any manager against a leak like this.

The plan failed and Rangers have one foot in the final round.
