In a move which could perhaps be compared to turkeys voting for Christmas, Robert Lewandowski has urged Bayern Munich to sign a new striker this summer.

Lewandowski is a player who often prides himself on being able to finish every game and in 2018/19, the Pole played a whopping 4179 minutes in all competitions for the German champions.

Since Sandro Wagner left for China in January, Lewandowski has been the only senior striker on Bayern’s books but 30-year-old hopes that situation will change before the start of the new campaign.

And the reason he has given is an interesting one.

“If you have the option of a second striker, that’s better – for the team and for me too,” Lewandowski told German outlet Kicker.

“I can watch the game from the outside and see how the team plays without me.”

Bayern have been linked with the likes of RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner and Werder Bremen’s Max Kruse and Lewandowski has dropped a big hint that a new signing could be heading to the Allianz Arena very soon.

“The club knows: A new player needs to help right away, you can not give him two years,” he added.

“I’m not sure what’s coming, but there’s more to come.”
