‘The best player’ – Marcus Rashford tips Barcelona star to win Ballon d’Or | OneFootball

Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has this weekend provided his take on the ongoing battle for the 2025 Ballon d’Or.

And the Englishman is of the opinion that, if voting simply for ‘the best player’, it is Barcelona star Lamine Yamal who should be the frontrunner.

Wide-man Lamine is for his part of course fresh off a spectacular campaign in 2024/25.

En route to a domestic treble for Barcelona, the 17-year-old, despite his tender years, played nothing short of a starring role.

All told, from his berth on the right wing, Lamine racked up 18 goals and a whopping 25 assists.

With his consistent excellence having carried over onto the international stage, too, many, in turn, have pushed the youngster’s name for the next Ballon d’Or.

And as alluded to above, adding his name to the list of Lamine’s backers this weekend was Marcus Rashford.

Speaking during an interview with xBuyer on Saturday, Rashford – heavily linked with a move to the Camp Nou this summer – was asked for his take on the ‘Golden Ball’.

And the Manchester United star went on to highlight Lamine as the game’s standout player, albeit whilst also taking note of the significance of Ousmane Dembélé’s Champions League triumph with Paris Saint-Germain:

“The Ballon d’Or? It depends. If you’re voting for the best player, it’s Lamine. If you’re voting for the one who won the Champions League, then it’s Dembélé. It all depends on how you feel.”
