With just a number of games remaining, players up and down the divisions will be weighing up their futures at their current clubs, and contemplating whether to move this summer.

It's no different at Cardiff City, and there are a number of players that have struggled for playing time this season and may fancy a move this summer.

It's been an improved campaign for the Bluebirds, and they're safely in mid-table after a disappointing 2022/23 season which saw them just about avoid relegation to League One.

However, their improved form has come thanks to having a stronger squad, which means some players who were regulars last season have fallen down the pecking order.

With that in mind, here are 5 Cardiff City players who will be keen to escape this summer.

Mahlon Romeo

Signed from Millwall by Steve Morison in the summer of 2022, right-back Mahlon Romeo was a regular in Cardiff's 2022/23 campaign, but has slipped down the pecking order this season under Erol Bulut.

He played 33 times last season, but has struggled for playing time this season, and despite having a year left on his contract, the writing looks on the wall for an exit this summer.

He was recently excluded from Cardiff's matchday squad for games against Birmingham City and Millwall, after being disciplined for an internal issue.

Given his lack of minutes and recent disciplinary action, Romeo may well want to leave this summer.

Another one of Steve Morison's summer 2022 signings, Sawyers has barely featured this season under Erol Bulut.

Fortunately for the former Brentford man, his contract is up this summer and there seems to be no sign of it being renewed, so he's likely free to leave this summer.

The 32-year-old midfielder played 39 times for the Bluebirds last season, but the signings of Aaron Ramsey and Manolis Siopis have ensured that he's slipped down the pecking order at the Cardiff City Stadium this season.

Signed by Steve Morison in the summer of 2022, Rinomhota appeared to be quite the coup for Cardiff given his performances for previous club Reading, but he's never hit the same heights in south Wales as he did in Berkshire.

After a first-half of the season where he barely kicked a ball, he was loaned to fellow Championship side Rotherham United, where he's featured regularly, but he's not been able to help the Millers survive.

Swansea, which would have hardly helped boost his popularity among Cardiff supporters.

Sheyi Ojo

Yet another one of Steve Morison's 2022 summer signings, former Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo has spent the 2023/24 campaign on loan with KV Kortrijk in Belgium.

He made 39 appearances last season for the Bluebirds, but after just one League Cup game this season, Bulut had seen enough to let him leave on loan.

Having signed a two-year deal in the summer of 2022, Ojo is a free agent this summer and will almost certainly depart the Welsh capital in the coming months.

Callum Robinson

You guessed it, another one of Steve Morison's 2022 signings. Callum Robinson was one of Cardiff's best players last season and was instrumental in keeping them in the division, but it's been a difficult campaign for the Irish international forward.

He scored seven goals and registered seven assists in 29 appearances last season for the Bluebirds, but thanks to injury and a loss of form, he's got nowhere near that this season.

He was also dropped for disciplinary reasons by Erol Bulut in recent weeks alongside Mahlon Romeo, and it just hasn't clicked for him this season.
