Three players are set to depart Sheffield United at the end of their contracts in 2026, with no certainty that any deals will be renewed.

Sheffield United have begun the new campaign in dismal form, losing both of their opening Championship games with a 4-1 home loss to Bristol City and a 1-0 away loss to Swansea City.

In between, there was a 2-1 defeat to newly-promoted Birmingham City in the League Cup, meaning new boss Ruben Selles is already under a heap of pressure from fans of the club, who were already uninspired by the sacking of former manager Chris Wilder.

The Spaniard has openly criticised the Blades business, or lack thereof, this summer, telling BBC Radio Sheffield: "I think our process has not been good enough, I think that's obvious."

Selles added: "At the beginning of the market we spoke about reinforcing with three players and then with Anel (Ahmedhodzic) and Kieffer (Moore) gone it's five players.

"We have not been able to bring anybody else for different circumstances and on that everyone has a part of it and I accept mine."

The Blades have made five new additions to the squad this summer, including the loan acquisition of Tyler Bindon on-loan from Nottingham Forest, who Selles worked with at Reading.

But with Anel Ahmedhodzic, Vinicius Souza, Kieffer Moore and Rhian Brewster all departing the club so far this summer, Sheffield United have lost four players which, together, totaled 166 appearances across all competitions last season.

As it stands, three Blades players' contracts are set to expire in 2026, with no signs yet that any will be renewed. FLW has taken a look at the three players and what their current situation in regard to an extension looks like.

Tom Davies

Davies, 27, spent his entire youth and professional career with Merseyside outfit Everton before joining Sheffield United on a free transfer in the summer of 2023, signing a three-year deal at Bramall Lane.

In only his second professional start for Everton, he starred in a 4-0 win over Pep Guardiola's Man City and would go on to make 179 appearances for Everton in all competitions before his departure.

Since joining Sheffield United, the former England youth international's time in South Yorkshire has been blighted by injuries, playing just 25 times for the Blades in two years at the club.

Now in the third and final year of his £30,000 per week contract at the club, it remains to be seen whether Davies will extend his current deal beyond 2026, though it is unlikely he will be receiving anywhere near his current wage if he was to do so.

Jack Robinson

Robinson joined Sheffield United in January 2020 for around £1 million from Nottingham Forest, with the club experiencing an astonishing first season back in the top flight, securing a ninth-placed finish in the end.

The English defender appeared sporadically over his few seasons at the club, unable to fully displace Chris Basham, John Egan or Enda Stevens in the back three consistently.

It has only been the past couple of seasons that the 31-year-old has developed into a mainstay in the Blades defence, playing 68 games across the past couple of seasons and having started each of Sheffield United's opening fixtures.

Rumours from The Sun have linked Wrexham with a move for Robinson, though with Selles having already voiced concern over the lack of options in the backline, it's unlikely the former England youth international will depart before then.

As of now, his £25,000 per week contract expires at the end of this season, with no signs indicating an extension beyond then.

Adam Davies

Davies joined the Blades in January 2022 for a reported £250,000k from Championship side Stoke City, where he has featured predominantly as a backup during his time in South Yorkshire.

Born in Germany but having represented Wales on five occasions, Davies has played second fiddle to both Wes Foderingham and Michael Cooper over the past few seasons, and is set to be a backup option behind Cooper again this season.

Davies' £25,000 per week contract is set to expire this summer, with it being unlikely that he will renew his current deal on the same terms if he was to stay.
