Former Chelsea player and then manager Frank Lampard has delivered a damning verdict on the club operations in some latest quotes.

Lampard went to the club as a player from West Ham and became a legend and one of the best ever players to play for the club. He would be in every persons top five players to ever play for Chelsea.

He then went back to the club as a manager the first time around and the club was under a transfer ban and were about to have a change of ownership too. It was a tough situation for Lampard at that time, but many will agree that he didn’t do a bad job and was perhaps harshly sacked, especially upon reflection with the above circumstances mentioned.

And then Lampard came back for a second spell as manager, this time on an interim basis under the new ownership, and ownership who have been heavily criticised for how they have ran Chelsea so far.

This spell was of course a complete disaster and Chelsea and Lampard on the whole completely failed together. There was so many players at that time heading for the exit door, and we could see that in the results and performances. It was a truly embarrassing time.

In a video for Sky Sports, Lampard has been honest and has given some critique on the owners and the operations at Chelsea during that period when he came back.

He said:

“Even going back to Chelsea as interim, it was a really tough time at the club. and I saw a lot of things, and people questioned like, was it the right thing to do?

“I’m absolutely better for the experience of that even though it was six, seven weeks, I saw things there that I know can’t be right at the elite level. And that’s the truth.”
