“Confirmed now” – Romano declares Chelsea’s plans for one player this summer

AC Milan played one of the biggest games of their season over the weekend as they looked to keep their Champions League hopes alive.

The Rossoneri took on title chasing Napoli and lost 2-1. A huge amount of flak was aimed at manager Sergio Conceicao, and chief among his decisions under fire was his idea to start Joao Felix on the left wing while leaving the dynamic and dangerous Rafael Leao out.

When he did switch the two early in the second half, the game changed, but it was too little too late.

We’ve already covered some of the frustrated reaction to Felix’ latest showing from Milan fans. But now Fabrizio Romano has confirmed what we said in that piece – there’s no way that the Italian club will be buying Felix after those sorts of displays.

“AC Milan and João Félix won’t continue together beyond this season after loan deal from Chelsea,” he Tweeted today.

“Feeling from beginning of March again confirmed now, with João expected to return to Chelsea. #CFC will assess the situation in the summer to find a potential new club.”

So there you have it – Romano, and whoever is feeding him these lines, isn’t even pretending that Chelsea will try to keep Felix next season. They’re already thinking of new destinations for him.

After trying him once for 6 months they were conned into buying him a year later. And then after another 6 months in the first team they’re already ready to sell him.

All that remains now is seeing how low the price we charge for him will have to fall before we can fool someone else into taking him off our hands. The “ghost” of a good player, the mirage of game changing ability – we’ve got to find a bigger fool than us somewhere.
