Bayer Leverkusen have confirmed that Martin Terrier's season is over after the French striker was forced off early in Saturday's 3-1 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Terrier has suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon, an MRI scan revealed on Sunday, and he will therefore not be able to play again this season.

"It's a tough blow for Martin and for us as a club. But we will support him wherever we can," said Bayer 04 managing director for sport Simon Rolfes.

"A similar injury happened to Charles Aránguiz and he was able to become an absolute top player at Bayer 04 after recovering from injury."

It's already been an injury-plagued campaign for the 27-year-old, who joined Leverkusen from Stade Rennes last summer.
