Bayer Leverkusen have confirmed that forward Martin Terrier will miss the rest of the season with an Achilles injury he picked up in their win against Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Terrier was substituted off in the sixth minute of their game against Gladbach after his foot seemingly got stuck in the playing turf at the BayArena which caused him to fall on the floor. The 27-year-old had an MRI today that confirmed he will miss the rest of the season.

The summer signing from Rennes has had bad luck with injuries since moving to Germany. This is Terrier’s third injury of the season having missed five games already with a forearm fracture and a knock. This has restricted him to only two goals and two assists in 20 games for Leverkusen with most of his appearances coming off of the bench.

This is the second long-term injury that Leverkusen have suffered with their forward line as Amine Adli recovers from a broken leg. Victor Boniface is also set to return soon following his injury at the back end of last season. Leverkusen’s current set of fit attackers are Florian Wirtz, Patrik Schick, Nathan Tella and Jonas Hofmann.
